Concept Art is not just about creating a piece of work, it’s about creating something new and exciting and expressing imagination visually, it can be challenging but it’s lots of fun!
Alisha is a Concept Artist at Technicolor Games. With a passion for physics, graduating in engineering and now creating art for a living, Alisha has been on a great journey so far.
Alisha absolutely loves creating characters, writing stories to bring them to life and becoming part of their world. Alisha loves painting backgrounds and environments, especially creating color keys.
Outside of work, Alisha enjoys watching lots of animation content and movies, lately Alisha has been using all her free time creating her own comics.
How did your career begin?
I wasn’t really a doodler or painter when I was younger, but in engineering college I joined a student club called ‘Design Tab’. It was being part of the club that introduced me to the world of games, animation and graphic design. My curiosity took me into animated movies and concept art. After completing a year at media school, my career began with my first job as a Junior Concept Artist.
What is your most memorable moment at Technicolor Games?
I have been with Technicolor Games for around 5 months now, in my very first days here I was encouraged to create and develop my own animated character, in my mind she was a self-proclaimed Secret Agent, and the team here helped me to bring my character to life and I developed her further. I absolutely loved creating her background story, her world and the environment she lives in.
What is it like working at Technicolor Games?
Technicolor Games has been a great place to learn and experiment with new skills, this along with constant encouragement from the team to have our own freedom of expression creates a great environment. We get to work on various genres and styles of games and this is really eye-opening. I often wish I could play the games while we are bringing them to life but we have to wait for that!
What are you most excited about for the future?
I’m looking forward to working on some exciting and challenging projects coming up. I’m also interested to take on the responsibility of the visual language aspect of projects. For me, VR is the future, so to be able to work on VR projects will be a dream come true.
What advice could you give to someone wanting to join the industry?
Skills and talent matter a lot, but I believe it’s also very important to connect with art on a personal level. One can learn from anything; absorb and observe everything and stay curious!
Alisha is never afraid to go above and beyond in order to discover fresh approaches to enhance the artwork in every genre that is assigned to her. It’s amazing to observe how her creative thought process has enhanced the impact of her concept art.
